Through your contributions and memberships the Foundation has been able to help the United States Army Aviation Museum restore parts of its collection and, at times, one of a kind airframes.
Below is the most resent example of the Foundation’s contribution to the museum’s mission
XH-59 ABC
– Built by Sikorsky in the 1070’s. The Advancing Blade Concept (ABC) system consisted of two rigid, contra-rotating rotors. Forward thrust was provided by two turbojets which allowed the main rotor to only be required to provide lift. It had a maximum speed of 322 mph and a climb rate of 1200 ft/min. This configuration inspired Sikorsky’s future vertical lift efforts.
