Super 68

SN. 90-26288 ‘Super 68’ - RAZOR’S EDGE

This is an exclusive special operations variant of the UH-60L known as a DAP (Direct Action Penetrator). From delivery in 1990 until its induction into the museum collection in late 2013, this aircraft was assigned throughout its entire service life to the 160th SOAR (Special Operations Aviation Regiment), having undergone many upgrades over the years. It was one of the first aircraft in the Regiment to undergo the conversion to a DAP in the mid-90’s.

It is shown here in its most recent mission configuration, as a COMNAV IDAP flown in Afghanistan in 2012. It mounts the standard armament for this configuration – a 19-shot rocket pod, 30mm cannon, and twin forward fixed 7.62 miniguns. During its time in the 160th it also racked Hellfire missiles and Stinger ATAS (air-to-air missiles) on the pylons depending on the mission.
